Sean Deeney, B787 pilot and founder of My Flight Deck Prep

The Reality of Airline Selection.

Three challenges every pilot should understand before facing an airline selection panel.

01

The cost of getting it wrong

A failed interview can mean a stand-down, delayed earnings and lost seniority compared with the pilots who secure the role ahead of you.

02

Knowing what to say

What will they ask? Which examples should you use? How do you turn your experience into answers that demonstrate what the airline is looking for?

03

Experience alone isn't enough

It got you to the interview.

You can have 1,000 hours or 10,000. It doesn't matter unless you're able to demonstrate the competencies behind the questions you're about to face.

WHY GENERIC PREPARATION CAN FALL SHORT

Why Some Preparation Techniques Fall Short.

01

The Failings Of Zoom Calls

You arrange your schedule around somebody else's. Then you get an hour and you might cover three or four questions. Your actual interview could involve seven or eight.

So you book another session and hand out more money. Then you arrange your schedule around somebody else's...again.

And when it's over? You're left with hurried notes and whatever feedback you can remember.

02

Video Courses Can't Assess Your Answers.

Generic modules can teach interview techniques, but they don't know your target airline or assess the answers you actually give.

Watching is not the same as practising and receiving personalised feedback.

03

Airline Research Is Left To You.

Airlines want to know you've done your research — and how your goals align with theirs.

Generic preparation often leaves you to do that research yourself, or charges extra for airline-specific guidance.

04

You Can't Predict The Exact Questions. No One Can.

Airlines can change the questions they ask at the drop of a hat, even hours before your interview. Anyone telling you they have "a list" is likely just selling you something.

THE MY FLIGHT DECK PREP METHOD

Three Steps to Take You From Interview Invite to Interview-Ready.

Research your target airline, practise your answers, then use personalised feedback to understand where and how to improve.

01

Airline Research - Done For You.

Your Airline Intelligence Guide is built around your target airline, helping you understand the organisation before the interview.

  • Values, culture and people
  • Recent news and business performance
  • Fleet strategy and strategic priorities
  • Commonly reported interview questions and themes, where available

Understand the airline — and prepare to explain why you want to join it.

02

Airline-Specific Practice Interview

Put your preparation into practice with a recorded interview you complete on your schedule.

  • 7–10 questions in your practice interview
  • Airline-relevant questions and commonly reported themes, where available
  • Practise explaining your experience clearly and confidently
  • Complete it when it suits you — no calendars to coordinate

Experience the challenge before the real interview.

03

Personalised Coaching You Keep Forever

Receive detailed feedback on the answers you actually give in the form of our coaching report, so you can see what is working and where to improve.

  • Question-by-question assessment of your responses
  • Clear feedback on strengths and areas to improve
  • Practical guidance on how to make your answers stronger

Know what to improve — and how to improve it.

YOUR AIRLINE-SPECIFIC RESEARCH

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Still have questions?
We've got you covered.

Who is My Flight Deck Prep designed for?

My Flight Deck Prep is designed for professional pilots preparing for an airline interview.

Whether you're applying to a legacy, regional or international airline, the preparation is designed to help you understand your target airline, practise answering interview questions and identify how to strengthen your responses before the real interview.

Is the preparation specific to the airline I'm applying to?

Yes.

Your Airline Intelligence Guide is researched around your target airline. Depending on the information available, it covers areas such as the airline's values, culture, business, current priorities and relevant interview themes.

Your Practice Interview is also designed around the airline you're preparing for, rather than relying solely on generic pilot interview questions.

The goal is to help you prepare for the airline you want to join.

What exactly do I receive?

Your preparation includes three core components:

  • Airline Intelligence Guide — airline-specific research to help you understand the organisation you're applying to.
  • Airline-Specific Practice Interview — a recorded practice interview containing 7–10 questions.
  • Personalised Coaching Report — detailed feedback on your answers, with practical guidance on where and how to improve.

These three components work together to help you research the airline, practise your answers and understand what to improve before your interview.

RESEARCH → PRACTISE → REFINE

Why can it take up to 48 hours after payment to get started?

Your preparation isn't simply generated from a generic template. I research your target airline, build your Airline Intelligence Guide and prepare your Practice Interview around the airline you're applying to.

The 48-hour window gives me time to prepare these materials properly rather than rush through the work.

If I miss that 48-hour commitment, your entire preparation is free.

How does the Practice Interview work?

You'll complete a recorded Practice Interview containing 7–10 questions relevant to your target airline on our platform.

You complete it in your own time by recording your answers to the questions provided. This lets you practise responding without someone coaching you through each answer as you go.

The aim is to give you an opportunity to experience the challenge of answering interview questions, reflect on how you communicate your experience and receive feedback on your actual responses.

What does the Coaching Report tell me?

The Coaching Report goes beyond simply telling you whether an answer was "good" or "bad."

It assesses your responses, identifies what you did well, highlights areas for improvement and explains how you could make your answers stronger using your own experience.

You'll receive practical recommendations and specific coaching to help you understand what to focus on before the real interview.

Why can my Coaching Report take up to 72 hours?

Your Coaching Report involves more than reviewing a score. I listen to your recorded answers, assess the evidence you've provided, identify areas for improvement and prepare your report

The 72-hour window gives me time to review your answers carefully and provide feedback you can put into practice.

If I miss that 72-hour commitment, your entire preparation is free.

What if my airline interview is only a few days away?

A structured approach can be particularly valuable when time is limited.

Your preparation is designed to give you a focused process: understand the airline, practise your answers and use the Coaching Report to identify where to concentrate your remaining preparation.

You can begin working through your materials as soon as they become available. Your airline research and Practice Interview materials are provided within the 48-hour preparation window.

You can complete the required work in a matter of days. And the coaching is yours to keep. So if you need it the morning of the interview sitting in the carpark - it's there.

Is this just a list of interview questions?

No.

A list of questions is pointless. Airlines can change questions anytime. Even hours before an interview. And a list doesn't assess how effective your own answers are.

The preparation goes further by helping you:

  • Understand your target airline through focused research.
  • Practise responding to range of airline-relevant interview questions and commonly reported interview themes - where available- for your airline.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses in your recorded answers.
  • Understand what you could change to make your responses stronger.

The focus is on preparing you as acurately as possible for your target airline. Whilst incorporating questions and themes that are common across airline interviews. So you are prepared in both aspects.

Who is the coach?

Sean Deeney is the founder of My Flight Deck Prep and a current B787 legacy airline pilot.

Sean has personally attended eight airline interviews and received eight job offers, including two command upgrade interviews.

His background also includes experience conducting professional behavioural interviews and making hiring decisions outside aviation.

The preparation draws on that combination of personal airline interview success, behavioural interview experience and current airline operational insight.

The goal is to help you understand your target airline, communicate the evidence in your own career and present your experience effectively during selection.

What happens if I'm unsuccessful in my interview?

If you're unsuccessful in your airline interview, I'll work with you on your next airline interview at no additional charge and take you through the preparation process again for that specific airline.

That means revisiting the airline research, preparing for the next interview, completing the Practice Interview and reviewing your answers through the Coaching Report.

Whether you're reapplying to the same airline or interviewing with a different airline, the preparation will be tailored to that next opportunity.

Guarantee conditions: This guarantee applies to airline interviews only and is available for your first unsuccessful interview. It cannot be claimed again following a subsequent unsuccessful interview. It does not apply to interviews with smaller or private operators. Please review the full guarantee terms before purchasing.

What if I don't receive my preparation materials on time?

Your Airline Intelligence Guide and Practice Interview materials will be provided within 48 hours of payment.

Your Coaching Report and personalised video walkthrough will be delivered within 72 hours of you submitting your Practice Interview answers.

If I miss either of those commitments, your entire preparation is free.
