A quick word from Sean

About your Riyadh Air interview

You read it twice. Maybe three times.

You've already done the maths. The mortgage gone. The debt cleared. Tax-free income, housing and medical covered, and your partner free to choose whether to work.

Five to ten years that could set your family up for life.

Then a quieter thought arrives:

What are they actually going to ask me?

So you do what every Riyadh Air candidate does.

You message a mate who got in last year, and they remember two questions, maybe. You dig through old PPRuNe threads.

You end up with a long list of guesses and try to prepare an answer for every one, between duties.

Here's what most pilots never realise: you don't need to know the questions.

Every question a Riyadh Air panel asks is looking for one thing: behavioural evidence.

Proof, from your real experience, that you have the competencies they're assessing: leadership, workload management, decision-making, communication, and the list goes on.

Take leadership. It could be asked three different ways:

"Tell us about a time you led a team to a successful outcome."
"Describe a time you took responsibility for a group of people."
"Give an example of when you had to motivate others to achieve a goal."

Three different questions, all asking the same thing.

My process shows you which competencies your experiences actually demonstrate.

So when you hear the question, you know exactly which story to reach for to deliver your answer.

No more worrying about what they'll ask.

By the end of your 10 days with me, you'll have 18 interview-ready answers, each mapped to what it proves, ready for your Riyadh Air interview.

Why 18?
15answers built to the competencies airlines most commonly assess
+
3questions almost every panel asks
=
18finished answers covering your whole interview

The 3: tell me about yourself, your greatest weakness, and why Riyadh Air.

The second problem

It's the night before. You're running through your answers one more time.

They sound fine to you. But a voice in the back of your head keeps asking:

Are they good enough? Or do they just sound good to me?

This is the part nobody tells you.

You can't judge your own answers.

You were there, so every story feels complete. The panel wasn't, and they can only score what you actually say.

Are you actually demonstrating the competency, and articulating it clearly?
Which parts are you spending too much time on without realising?
Will your answer hold up when the panel asks a follow-up?

There's more to an interview-standard answer than STAR.

For every one of your 18 answers, I'll make sure the answer to all three is yes.

Why it matters

Why it's worth getting right the first time

Riyadh Air is a new airline, and there's very little evidence yet on whether unsuccessful candidates get a second chance.

You may only get one.

Miss it, and you could miss out on:

  • Tax-free income
  • Housing and medical benefits
  • Years of savings
  • The chance to fly for a new elite global brand from day one

That's why it's worth walking in prepared.

Is this for you?

This is for you if

  • You're an experienced professional with a long history of airline flying, whether on Airbus or Boeing, with a Riyadh Air interview booked or on its way
  • You know your experience is solid, but you're not sure what to expect or whether your answers are suitable
  • You're willing to put in the work: building your stories, recording your answers and acting on the coaching

This isn't for you if

  • You want a script of answers to memorise
  • You'd rather have live Zoom coaching sessions
  • You're hoping to get through without practising out loud
How it works

From interview invite to interview ready

Step 01

Your Riyadh Air Intelligence Guide. Knowledge To Set You Up For Success.

The day you come on board, I begin my research. Within 48 hours you receive your personal Riyadh Air Intelligence Guide, along with access to the Story Builder and link to your first practice interview.

That means up-to-date intelligence: this month's news, current fleet plans and the latest candidate reports. Not outdated notes from 4 months ago, or worse - 2019.

  • Where the questions cluster: the themes Riyadh Air candidates report being asked, where available
  • Technical questions you could face: reported technical topics faced by prior candidates, where available
  • Values, culture and leadership priorities: the language for "why Riyadh Air?"
  • Brand, customer and competitors: show you understand the business, not just the flying
  • Fleet, network, recent news and strategy
  • Your airline interview brief: the key points for the day, on one page

Every fact is labelled by source: official, reputable third party, or candidate-reported.

Step 02

The Story Builder. Find your best stories.

Most pilots have great examples. They just can't remember them under pressure, or don't realise what they demonstrate.

The Story Builder fixes that. Through guided prompts, it draws the experiences out of your career in raw form: no polishing, no STAR formatting, just what happened. You work through the 18 competencies airlines most commonly assess.

At the end, you get a 40+ page report of your own examples, each one mapped to the main competency it demonstrates, plus any others it also shows.

You'll know your best leadership story. Your best conflict resolution story. Your best decision under pressure. All 18, mapped and ready.

No more wondering whether your story really shows what they're looking for, or which story to use for which question.

Step 03

Round 1 coaching. Find the gaps.

Your first practice interview covers the three questions almost every panel asks (Tell me about yourself, Your greatest weakness, and Why Riyadh Air?), plus 7 competency-based questions.

Record it in your own time, around your roster.

I review every answer personally, and you receive your coaching report and coaching video within 72 hours (of submitting if you've paid in full, or of your round payment on pay as you go).

For every answer:

  • A score out of 10: know exactly where each answer stands
  • Other ways the question could be asked
  • The competencies the panel is looking for
  • What you showed, and what you missed: with evidence quoted from your own words
  • What you did well, and areas to strengthen with specific examples
  • Your words vs a stronger version, and why it works
  • A coaching video from me: what to change, why it matters, and suggested wording for a more effective answer. It's like having me in the room, without needing to book a call around your roster.

Step 04

Round 2 coaching. Polish and prove it.

Your second practice interview covers 8 new competency-based questions, plus your 2 weakest answers from round 1, rebuilt and asked again.

That's where it clicks. You'll see your score rise on the answers that worried you most, and you'll know the coaching worked because the numbers show it.

You get the same detailed coaching report and coaching video, so every new answer is reviewed to the same standard.

By the end, you'll have:
  • 15 competency answers
  • Tell me about yourself
  • Your greatest weakness
  • Why Riyadh Air
18 answers, all tested, refined and coached to interview standard.

That's how I take you from interview invite to interview ready.

See the difference coaching makes

Here's a real excerpt from a coaching report. The question: "Tell me about a time you handled a stressful situation."

Original answer"I went through the engine failure memory items, climbed out at best rate on the remaining engine and tracked out over the ocean to avoid terrain while I secured the failed engine. I then made a mayday call and contacted operations."
Stronger version"My first priority was to fly the aircraft and establish a safe path. I immediately went through the engine failure memory items, maintained best rate-of-climb on the remaining engine and tracked out over the ocean to give myself space and time to secure the failed engine without the added risk of terrain. Once the engine was secured, I transmitted a mayday and provided operations with our intentions and passenger status."

Why it works: the first answer says what happened. The stronger version shows how you think: your priorities, your reasoning and your risk management. That's the behavioural evidence the panel is scoring.

One answer is a good story. The other is an interview-standard answer. This is what you get for every one of your 18 answers.

Who's coaching you
8 airline interviews. 8 offers.
4 out of 4 with the Qantas Group.
2 command upgrades passed, including 1 within the Qantas Group.
Current B787 legacy airline pilot.
Former behavioural interviewer for professional roles.

A couple of days before my wedding, the call came. The interview I'd been working towards my whole career, a long-haul seat at a legacy airline.

I had one week's notice. And the interview was a few days after I got married.

There was no time to wing it, and no room for guesswork. I needed a process. So I built one:

ResearchI learned the airline inside out.
BuildI mapped my experience to the competencies airlines assess.
PractiseI rehearsed every answer. Paid for coaching
RefineI tightened each one until ready.

I was successful.

That's the exact process this program is built on, in the same order, now with me coaching you through every step.

Questions

Frequently asked

My interview is less than 10 days away. Can I still do this?

Yes. Let me know your interview date when you start, and I'll fast-track your program where I can. Your Intelligence Guide and first practice interview arrive within 48 hours, and coaching within 72 hours of each round.

What if my interview date comes up before I finish round 2?

It happens, and airlines don't always give much notice. Round 1 covers the three questions almost every panel asks (tell me about yourself, your greatest weakness and why Riyadh Air) plus 7 competency questions, so even if time runs short, you'll walk in with your most important answers coached.

What if they ask me questions I haven't practised?

They probably will, and that's the point of the program. You're not memorising answers to specific questions. You're building 18 strong stories mapped to the competencies the panel is assessing, so whatever way a question is worded, you'll recognise what it's testing and know which story to use.

I'm an experienced airline pilot. Do I really need this?

Your experience got you the interview. The panel now scores what you can prove in your answers, and highly experienced pilots often lose marks by relying on their logbook instead of clear evidence of each competency. The Story Builder helps you pick your strongest examples from years of flying, and the coaching makes sure every answer shows what the panel is looking for.

Does this cover the technical questions, group exercise or sim?

The practice interviews and coaching focus on the behavioural interview, where most well-qualified pilots lose the job. Your Intelligence Guide includes reported technical topics where available. If you pay in full, the Sim Assessment Guide covers the sim, and Stand Out at Riyadh Air shows you how to rise above a global field of applicants.

Why are there no calls?

Years ago, I sat on a one-hour Zoom coaching session. We covered three questions. That's why this program works differently. Instead of spending an hour watching someone coach you through a handful of answers, you spend your time actually answering, 10 questions a round, and the coaching comes to you in writing and on video, ready when you are. More questions covered, more feedback, all on your schedule.

How do I record my practice interviews?

You'll get a link to your interview on our platform. When you start, each question comes up on screen. Click record, give your answer, and the platform moves you to the next question until you're done. Do it in your own time, on your phone or laptop, and allow about an hour for each practice interview.

How much time will this take?
  • Story Builder: 1–2 hours. It takes some thought, and the more you put in, the better your stories and answers will be.
  • Each practice interview: about an hour.
  • Your coaching: read and watch it whenever suits you, then rework your answers before round 2.
What's in the coaching report and video?

For every answer: a score out of 10, other ways the question could be asked, the competencies the panel is looking for, what you demonstrated and what you missed (with evidence quoted from your own words), what you did well, areas to strengthen with specific examples, and a stronger version of a key part of your answer with why it works. Plus a coaching video from me, going through your report and coaching you on what to change, why, and how to say it on the day.

What if I'm not successful? How does the second-chance guarantee work?

If you aren't successful at your interview, I'll take you through the whole process again for your next airline interview at no extra cost: a fresh Intelligence Guide, both practice interviews, and both coaching reports and videos. You'll also have access to the Story Builder again if you'd like to add new stories or rebuild old ones.

To qualify:

  • Complete the full program: the Story Builder, both practice interviews and both coaching rounds.
  • Let me know within 3 months of being told you weren't successful.
  • Your next interview must be with an airline. It can be a different airline or another go at the same one. It doesn't cover smaller operators such as charter, GA or flight school roles, because their selection processes are too different for this program.
What if you miss a delivery deadline?

I'll refund everything you've paid up to that point. The deadlines are:

  • Intelligence Guide, Story Builder access and practice interview 1: within 48 hours of your first payment.
  • Each coaching report and coaching video (pay in full): within 72 hours of you submitting your practice interview.
  • Each coaching report and coaching video (pay as you go): within 72 hours of your payment for that round. The clock starts when your payment is received, not when you submit.
